Cell Phone, Laptop, Gold & Silver Jewelry Recycling Fundraiser
Here is another way you can help and recycle at the same time.
Mission Statement This organization offers all types of squirrels refuge. Most of the squirrels our organization acquires are from Tampa Bay Emergency Animal Hospital. Some squirrels rendered unable to care for themselves and need full time care because of birth defects, contact with man, hurricanes, eating poison meant for rats etc. are selflessly cared for by our volunteers. There are NO paid positions at Lovely Lita's. All proceeds from sales and all donations go to the squirrels and are tax deductible. The costs are enormous and most people do not realize them. The cost to raise one baby squirrel to 6 months old is about $250.00 each. Six months is the age in which we considered to be mature enough for release back into the wild. That is if they are not injured or sick. If they come in injured or sick the cost really escalates from there for meds, vet visits, etc.... Lovely Lita's deals with anywhere from 200 to 300 squirrels a year. You can do the math, it is a huge undertaking to save these little creatures. Any donations no matter what size DO help. To volunteer you do not need experience in tending to squirrels, you just need patience, time, and a some instruction. The smaller squirrels (up to 12 weeks old) need to be fed every two hours and the larger squirrels need to be fed every four hours. Volunteers who do not want to take on the chore of preparing the squirrels for the wild can bring them back to the organization and we will take care of that. Supplies are in need continuously to feed and house the animals. HOW TO HELP: " Volunteer to care for a few of the baby squirrels. " and/or Donate these food items: Fox Valley or Just Born (puppy formula), pecans, almonds, walnuts, acorns, apples, grapes, strawberries, pears, corn, green beans, squash. And/or " Donate these supplies" syringes without needles, crates, carriers, paper towels, old t-shirts, heating pads. " Make a financial donation (make checks payable to Lovely Lita's Sheltering Tree foundation, 1110 S. Pine Lake Drive, Tampa Fl 33612) or go to the homepage and click the donation button to use PayPal |

| R.I.P. Lovely Lita June 4th 2009
It is with a tremendously heavy heart that I must tell everyone my Lovely Lita passed away quietly a few minutes ago. She was the most fantastic little lady anyone could ever have known. She was a people squirrel. Loved her people with all her heart and soul and she will be forever missed. Her name will live on in the organization I began because of her. Hopefully many other wonderful little furry friends will be helped because of her. It seems odd that she will be the first in the Lovely Lita boards Squirrel Heaven. I know she will wait for us and greet us with her enthusiastic jumps when we reach there too.
